The truth behind generic drug controversy

When you start discussing generics in presence of someone who works for a big pharmaceutical company the reaction will typically be similar to that of the Pope when discussing abortion or gay marriage. The reason for this is very obvious. The big companies are quite unhappy to share their profit with some small companies that didn’t invest a penny into researching and marketing the drug they sell. And all the small players have to do is just wait a couple of years for the exclusive patent to expire and they can easily duplicate the formula and produce cheap generics times cheaper than the original drug.

Fact is that most generics you see on the market are chemically identical to branded drugs and deliver the same effects but for a much lower price. So most people choose them over branded variations since it helps save some money on drug purchase. And that really annoys big pharmaceutical companies that price their products so high because they have invested a lot of money into developing, researching and testing the new drug and want to get some revenue for this. Such companies usually have a lot of influence and lobbying power, and as a result you constantly hear that generics are bad and don’t satisfy the quality control in most cases.

In reality, only a small percentage of generic drugs do not comply with requirements being simply counterfeit products (and you don’t expect the same quality from such drugs, do you?). All other generics are produced even from the same ingredients as the branded variations, using raw materials and chemicals coming out of China and South-East Asia. So the only difference is the package, label and of course the price, which is enough to buy the user’s attention over a much more expensive yet branded drug that was heavily advertised in TV ads, magazines and other sources.

Let’s take a popular drug like Viagra. Pfizer has made billions of dollars in a couple of years after bringing it to the market. It was literally everywhere, and the fact that it was the first drug to be ever approved by the FDA for treating erectile dysfunction also helped increase the overall income for Pfizer. And now we have dozens of Viagra generics that the big pharmaceutical company warns against as being low in quality and not delivering the same effects as original Viagra. Well, for some people who tend to believe everything they hear such a campaign can sound pretty honest and they will buy only branded variations regardless of the price. However, all companies that produce generic variations of this drug use the same formula and ingredients as Pfizer does and the resulting drug is the same in effectiveness as its more expensive analog.

In the end it all comes to personal choice. Some people like to get the drug they know more about and will pay more for this. Others count their money and will choose generics over branded drugs since they are a lot cheaper. However, it is utterly wrong to say that generic variations are somewhat inferior to branded drugs just because they are produced somewhere in Vietnam rather than in the US.

The problem of ED drug Internet spam

Men are always concerned about their intimate abilities and the way they perform in bed. However, when there are problems in this domain, the vast majority of men tend to conceal them because it is considered unmanly to have problems with erection. Sure, this sounds quite silly these days as men still tend to discuss these matters with their doctors, but in the earlier days it was quite a problem since impotence could lead to loss of social status (like a throne in a kingdom). Too bad they didn’t have Viagra spam back in that time. Or did they?

People believed in magical spells and potions before the advent of modern medicine, and you will be surprised to learn that a large part of these spells and preparations were aimed at eliminating impotence and improving current sexual abilities of the ritual’s subject. Of course, these rituals were secret and performed under the veil of secrecy. But it doesn’t change the fact that even kings and emperors were fascinated with these practices as they were looking for effective ways to improve their sexual abilities or prevent impotence. And you can imagine how many crooks and fake specialists have roamed the roads between kingdoms, providing something that you get in your spam folder every time you check the email.

Sure, we are more open to discussing our health problems than people of the past, but still when it comes to intimate problems not all of us will admit that a little help is needed. That’s why there are so many people becoming victims of Viagra spam these days. Sure you have observed the titles in the typical spam letters: if they aren’t about the money you have supposedly won then it’s about getting a bigger penis or buying Viagra at a very low price. And the fact that it’s convenient and anonymous to get drugs through the Internet, this form of spam doesn’t fade out even after years it has been jamming the mailboxes all over the world.

Most of the spam mails about the Blue Pill are nothing but a scam. These are the so-called phishing emails that provide specific links to sites where “the prices are really low” but when you enter your personal and credit information you simply get robbed and do not get any products in exchange. Such sites can also carry viruses and other malicious software that will damage your computer and steal your personal data – a typical kit for cyber criminals. As you see, despite the fact that technologies have changed, we are dealing with the same crooks that promise us things and simply rob us using our trust.

Still there are a lot of sites selling drugs that aren’t linked to spam. Do not confuse legal online stores and the links you get in your mail box marked as spam. The main reason for this form of cyber criminal activity is that Viagra is the most popular drug sold online and criminals are taking advantage of it. The only solution to this is to ignore any spam you get and buy your drugs from verified online vendors. Even if the spam mail promises a price twice as low as the official – it’s the main tool for attracting your attention and getting you to click on the link in the email.

Lifestyle choices

Let’s travel back to a time when we knew nothing about human biology. We lived as best we could, eating whatever was available and living for as long as we could. With life fragile, it was only natural we should be so religious. Prayer was all that kept us going. But, as diet improved and we became a little more scientific, we began to learn how the human body worked. Over the last one-hundred years, it’s like knowledge fell off a cliff. We just seem to be accelerating, as if gravity were pulling us ever faster to greater understanding. So what benefit have we gained from all this learning?

Well, we can now explain more of what goes wrong in out bodies. Armed with this knowledge, we can then put many of these things right. Except, sometimes, we choose not to and, when you think about it, that’s a really strange decision. Let’s take a simple example. The folk who lived four or five hundred years ago had a poor diet by modern standards. Farming was still hit-and-miss and, many times, we were almost starving coming into spring and the next planting. Now we can eat whatever we want, whenever we want (assuming we have the money to pay for it, of course). The result of our eating choices is easily seen in all public places. We have one of the highest rates of obesity in the world. With high levels of cholesterol in our bloodstream, there’s a deposit of plaque on the walls of the blood vessels. This builds up slowly and hardens. For the record, it’s called artherosclerosis and it’s the most preventable health problem in the world. All we have to do is eat less unhealthy food.

So here’s the irony. Way back when, some men did have erectile dysfunction but, mostly, this was a sign of old age and falling testosterone levels. Today, it’s like an epidemic among younger men and the direct of the diet we choose to eat. Young men on a starvation diet had great erections. Modern men kill their erections by smoking, eating too much fatty food and drinking too much alcohol.

So there you have it. If you’re a younger man with the first signs of erectile dysfunction, go to a doctor and be checked out for possible heart disease. Early preventative treatment is going to save your life. Indeed, if you take this warning to heart, you could really extend your life and improve your sexual experience by losing weight, quitting smoking and drinking less. This is not to deny the impact Viagra can make. When you first start taking the little blue pills, you will find great results. But if you refuse to change your lifestyle, it’s only a matter of time before the pills stop working. Once the damage to your blood vessels is there, Viagra loses its effectiveness. Now you have the bad news, you should start on the program. Heart disease check, preventative treatment, weight loss, exercise routines – all necessary to ensure a long and happy life.

The Blue Pill online phenomenon

Sildenafil or the Blue Pill as we know it is the brainchild of pharmaceutical giant Pfizer. This drug is also sold under different brand and generic names, depending on the company it was manufactured by under the license. However, most users have heard about the Blue Pill that is widely advertised on the Internet unlike most other drugs of its kind. Sure, there are other medications that compete with Sildenafil such as Levitra and Cialis. However, Pfizer’s drug was the first to be so aggressively advertised as the Blue Pill, and the company pays good commissions for online vendors to promote this drug through different means. That’s why almost any online drugstore offers Sildenafil at a very good price and there’s no problem ordering this drug online.

Sildenafil is widely known as Viagra for most users and online shoppers. The main purpose of this drug is to treat erectile dysfunction in men. However, before it has become the first and the biggest drug for treating impotence, it was studied as a treatment for chest pain. It was during the clinical trials that the researchers have observed the amazing effect of Sildenafil, as male test subjects reported improvement in their erectile functions. Even those who were diagnosed as impotent have told that they experienced erections after taking the test drug. That’s how Pfizer got ahead in the race for the first male impotence treatment – by accident.

Viagra works by stimulating the blood flow into the penis, which results in harder and more durable erections. If being more specific, it blocks the PDE-5 enzyme which is responsible for returning the penis into its flaccid state after ejaculation. When there are initial problems with blood flow, this enzyme makes it impossible to achieve a firm erection and it needs to be blocked in order to allow strong erection to form. That’s what Sildenafil is used for.

Viagra was introduced to the market in 1998 and approved by the FDA the same year. So it was the first medication to be approved for treating erectile dysfunction in men and got well ahead its closes competitors. Cialis and Levitra were introduced only in 2003, so the Blue Pill had five years to make a market and conquer it. And it did. Moreover, Pfizer’s product was the first drug to be so aggressively advertised on the web and it has literally created the entire industry of online drugstores we have today. So it’s really hard to underestimate the impact and importance of Sildenafil for the current online pharmaceutical industry.

Until now, Pfizer’s product is ranked number one in sales volumes and income earned among medications for male impotence, despite the fact that there are more identical drugs penetrating the market each year. It is estimated that within the first two years after it has been available for sale, Sildenafil has earned Pfizer over $1 billion in clean income and you can imagine how many men were buying the drug back then. Today most men still prefer the Blue Pill over its competitors because it is a legendary name that made its way even into popular culture.

Choosing the right kind of painkiller to use

When facing pain in any of its forms there are a lot of medications to choose from. However, what most people do not understand is the fact that different drugs are applied in different situations, and choosing the right painkiller might be not as simple as it seems. So it’s important to understand what kind of effects each type of analgesics delivers and where it could be applied. That’s exactly what you will find in this brief description of common painkiller types. So here are the most common types of analgesic drugs you will find in your local pharmacy:

Acetaminophen

It is one of the most commonly used over-the-counter medications for pain management. Acetaminophen can be found just anywhere and it’s a really cheap drug that gives you first aid assistance in case of mild to moderate acute pain. However, it’s not very effective for relieving severe or chronic pain. It is important to respect the right daily dosage with this drug, since it can lead to liver and kidney dysfunctions if taken in excess or for longer period of time. Avoid taking it with alcohol. And take not that acetaminophen is a very common component in other medications as it can be found in hundreds of prescription and non-prescription drugs. So read the label carefully when using any drugs in order to avoid an overdose with acetaminophen.

Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs)

NSAIDs such as ibuprofen are commonly used to reduce inflammation and calm acute pain associated with it. These drugs help with chronic inflammatory conditions such as arthritis. However, they aren’t typically regarded as painkillers since their main purpose is to address inflammation rather than relieve pain. Still, many patients with inflammatory conditions use NSAIDs and find them very effective for relieving painful symptoms.

Narcotics

Narcotics pain relievers (opioids and opiates) are the most effective drugs when it comes to addressing severe pain rapidly and effectively. There are different types of narcotics, ranging from very potent drugs like Dimedrol that are only used for relieving pain after surgeries to drugs like Ultram that are commonly used under prescription. However, with narcotic painkillers the right dosage is crucial, otherwise you risk experiencing side effects or developing dependency. So it’s highly discouraged to take drugs like Ultram without your doctor’s consent and exceeding the typical dosage. It may harm your health.

There’s no sense in keeping your acne

You probably know what it feels like to wake up in the morning with the hate for the way you look. Each and every one of us has those moments once in a while. We can’t help but feel depressed and vulnerable because of the state we find ourselves in.

Acnes don’t have to hurt to make you experience discomfort. It can happen so that you will start to realize that getting used to having them is the only solution left but this is one big mistake people seem to make. It is totally wrong to accept that fact that the problem you have is here to stay for good. The best attitude to have is to be willing to fight the issue that keeps on irritating and making the hell out of your life.

Accutane is the drug that works against acnes. It is more like a Vitamin A. What is usually does is lowers the amount of oil produced by oil glands in the skin. This is how the skin begins to recover. With this medication you don’t have to think too much. You have to try it as doctors and medical specialists prefer it to other drugs due to its efficiency.

Accutane helps to get rid of acnes that seem impossible to cure. The drug is typically prescribed after certain medication especially when the treatment made the situation no better for the patient.

But don’t think that just because the medication is like a form of Vitamin A it is not dangerous for your life when used for the wrong purposes. No pregnant women are allowed to take Accutane as it can severely affect the birth-giving process and the pregnancy itself.

There are a few other restrictions. Here are some of them. You can only get Accutane through a special governmental program iPLEDGE. No retailers from EBay or other Internet stores can give you authentic quality drug especially for a discounted price. Don’t make that mistake or it is your health that will suffer the most of all.

As we previously mentioned the drug is like a vitamin A therefore it is not recommended to take additional Vitamin A dosages while you are on the medication called Accutane.

If you are allergic to any Vitamins at all or any drugs cause you trouble with your health it is better to ask for a consultation though you have to do it anyway before you start your Accutane treatment. Acnes are not an issue that should be portrayed as life-threatening but it is definitely worth considering and taken care of.

You probably don’t want to spend your days trying to cover your face or hiding from society. You want to be a part of the world where problems don’t seem to bother as the way out is always found.

Give yourself a try with this treatment. At the end of the day, you don’t lose anything. Doctors like to work with this drug, people find it useful and efficient as it is always inspiring as you hear positive feedback that motivates you to fight for a better day where there are no problems that ruin it or make you feel sad about anything. But remember to be wise about any drugs you decide to take – “they can heal you or kill you” as people say. The most important is to keep your head up on your shoulders for drugs are not candies to kid around with.

Viagra Peddler Escapes with Political Life

Senate Majority Leader “Dirty” Harry Reid snatched a victory in 2010, despite ads from his opponent, Republican Sharron Angle, that claimed the Democrat wanted to pay for “convicted child molesters and sex offenders” to get erectile dysfunction medications.

The margin of victory was much larger than most analysts and political experts ( read “junkies”) had expected, surprising since this was the worst election for Democrats in a century. Any specific campaigns this year were overshadowed by dire talk about the economy – the Republicans solely blaming Democrats despite the common knowledge that the economic downturn was caused by lousy banking, brokering, and debt asset trading – while the national press was too busy talking about the Tea Party to cover any specific races in their substantive depth.

Unless, of course, those campaigns involved outrageous smearing.

How fair were those claims?

Experts agree that the ads were simply untruthful smears against Senator Reid.

The law she had been referencing in her add was actually an amendment to the federal healthcare bill that passed this year and will take effect in 2014.

Democratic strategists have pointed out that this ludicrous rhetoric was tactical; Republicans were trying to shift the conversation about healthcare away from how many uninsured, millions of children will now be insured under President Obama’s landmark legislation and toward the price tag and more vaguely defined parts of the bill that have potential to be exploited for scare-mongering.

Republican Senator Tom Coburn had proposed an amendment to explicitly ban insurers from covering ED medications for people with a history of sex crime. While this seems reasonable enough and, as many Democrats said, most Senators would have voted for it under different circumstances, Reid and his party voted against it because they needed to quickly pass the bill before the molasses-like mechanism of Congress gummed it up.

Republicans also put forth many other amendments specifically designed to stall legislation and give them political ammunition during the midterm elections.

What impact did this have on the election?

It seems that, as often happens, smear campaigning backfired against Sharron Angle. While in other similar races accusations of lavish Democratic spending and fiscal irresponsibility were enough to unseat Democrats, Sharron Angle’s campaign made the error of making personal attacks against a well established, respected figure in Nevada politics.

Ultimately, because of the press drawn to this issue, Reid’s campaign was able to spin the debate in Nevada away from politically unfavorable issues, such as the handling of the economic downturn, and toward Angle’s ranting about “sex predators” getting subsidized viagra.

What does the legislation say about ED medications for sex offenders?

Nothing. It doesn’t ban it, but Senator Reid made clear in his campaign, there is plenty of time to pass amendments and figure out exactly how the vaguer parts of the policy will be sorted out.

As the legislation currently stands, it would be possible, though not likely, for convicted sex offenders to get viagra. If a doctor thinks it’s medically necessary. However, the legislation will not stand that way. It will go through changes and revisions throughout the remainder of the process until, unless they buy it online, nobody gets viagra cheap.

Don’t just treat a symptom

It’s always interesting to watch a wheel turn. No matter where you start, you always end up back in the same place. Until 1998, no man wanted to talk about erectile dysfunction. If he was a “victim”, he would hide the problem as best he could and hope the world would ignore him. The reason? Because men are always supposed to be the powerful gender, sexual failure always leads to mockery. So better to stay quiet. Then with the launch of the little blue pill, the possibility of effective relief lured men out of the shadows. Although they would have to admit the problem, it was alright because doctors are supposed to keep everything confidential. Then, the wheel kept turning and online pharmacies began to sell the pills without the need for a prescription. The sense of anonymity when dealing with problems over the internet is more attractive than making an appointment and walking into a consulting room. So now men stay silent and get their pills delivered to their doors in unmarked packages.

This may be great for everyone who values privacy, but it’s not so good from a medical point of view. Erectile dysfunction drugs have a single function. They enable the arterial walls to dilate and contract at the right times. They do not treat the underlying cause of the failure to dilate and contract. This cause can be the first symptom of a serious disease.

Culture is sometimes on the ball. Smoking is now a red flag for lung cancer. People make the link between obesity and type 2 diabetes and heart disease. These are good first steps. But what we need to do is widen public perceptions. Erectile dysfunction is caused when the artery leading into the penis fails to dilate. There are several reasons why this might happen but the most common is artherosclerosis. This is a slow build-up of plaque on the arterial walls. It hardens and prevents the muscles from moving. This particular artery is one of the smallest in the body – four times smaller than the arteries in the chest and lungs leading to the heart. But what affects the penile artery now may affect the heart arteries in five years time.

Erectile dysfunction is like the canary in the coal mine for heart disease. If you are in your thirties or forties, this is a real danger sign and you should have a full check up. If damage to blood vessels is confirmed, preventative treatment is easily available and you enjoy a long and active life. It’s the same story if the tests show diabetes or depression. The earlier you start treatment, the sooner you have things under control.

Viagra is a safe and effective drug for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. But don’t make the mistake of thinking it cures all ills. If the cause of the erectile dysfunction is a serious disease, you need different treatment. Spend some money on a consultation and tests. This could save your life. If the tests prove no underlying danger, you can relax, buy Viagra online and start enjoying life to the full again.

It’s either Propecia or learn to live with baldness

In the days when people still had fireplaces and, more importantly, actually lit fires to keep warm, there were always stories of folk sitting in front of the television watching the news. A talking head would calmly announce price increases from leading cigarette manufacturers. Deeply angered smokers would pitch their packs into the fire, muttering, “Nevermore,” or something equally decisive in raven-speak. For those in the ranks of the Quit Now, these stories were always good PR. Throwing the unsmoked cigarettes into the fire is a kind of poetic justice for the death sticks. But not everyone can be so decisive. Look at the number of people whose New Year Resolutions are forgotten until the next year when they are all solemnly repeated. How many of us have lost all those pounds in weight? All those good intentions defeated by the hard cold reality of the will power needed to make them work.

Worse, it can all come down to whether you know what the right decision is. Although everyone “knows” it”s the right thing to quit smoking and lose weight, there are a hundred-and-one lifestyle choices where not everything is so clear. For example, did you know progressive lenses are bad for your neck. If you work on computers, you end up looking at the screen through one small part of the lens and this static pose compresses the joints in your neck. What about never using a vacuum cleaner? That”s something always popular with men who, for the most part, never really get the need to keep everything so absolutely clean. Did you know that bending over slightly to use either the upright or canister varieties is the position most likely to damage a disc in your back? So when you are tempted to twist and turn and prod the hose under the sofa, stop before you damage yourself.

But here comes the big question. Could you learn to live with baldness? Think Bruce Willis or Michael Jordan, Patrick Stewart or Samuel L. Jackson. They have no problems with low self-esteem. They are confident. Even the women can get in on the act and look pretty cool. Do you remember Natalie Portman in V for Vendetta or Demi Moore in G.I. Jane? In one moment, you could see how tough and sexy women can look without all that hair getting in the way.

Back to our big question. If you found the pattern of hair loss starting to show, could you throw your baseball cap in the fire and make a New Year Resolution to shave off what”s left and so avoid going through the slow-loss process? If not, Propecia is for you. This is the FDA-approved way of keeping your hair healthy. Indeed, take it early enough, and lost hair will grow back. So this is the big decision. This is not a one-time thing. Once you start, you have to keep the Propecia going. The hair loss resumes when you stop. When will you take the decision to be comfortable with yourself?
