How can multi-vitamins and weight loss patches can help in losing weight?
Whey is most well known for its bodybuilding properties – But did you know you can lose fat with Whey as well? Utilizing protein supplementation can help you lose weight by both reducing your protein to fat intake, as well as reducing your appetite by stimulating cholecystokinin (CCK-PZ,) which is the chemical in your body that controls how hungry you are.
Lowering Your Protein to Fat Intake
Mainly, when you take in protein you also take in fat. For example, when you drink milk you’re drinking a lot of fat. Even low fat or 2% fat milk, which is measured as 2% by weight, has a lot of fat when you measure it by calories. The same can be said for meat, nuts, and just about any other protein source. That’s why Whey is such an incredible supplement. You get a strong dose of protein into your body, without having to ingest any fat in the process. Whey is almost 100% protein. In addition, it has all the essential amino acids your body needs. That means you’ll get all the proteins you need, including the proteins that your body can’t produce on its own.
Disable Appetite With Cholecystokinin
Cholecystokinin (CCK-PZ) is considered one of the most important things when it comes to weight loss. It’s the brain chemical that controls how hungry you are or aren’t. Whey is one of the few foods that scientists have found can actually increase the body’s production of CCK-PZ. In other words, when you drink Whey, not only do you add proteins your body badly needs, but you also reduce the feeling of hunger by boosting the chemical in your brain that regulates hunger. That means eating less foods that your body doesn’t need to build muscles. This again translates to losing more fat over the long term.
So What Does Science Say?
There have been gobs scientific tests done on Whey protein to see its effect on weight loss. Many of them involve comparing Whey to other forms of protein to see which had more of a weight loss effect. One study to be leading was a study conducted that compared Whey with milk and with someone who ate nothing during the period of the study. The results were quite shocking: Participants consuming Whey lost even more weight than someone who was consuming nothing. Whey actually stimulated processes in the body that caused the loss of fat, even more so than the body’s natural tendency to burn fat when there isn’t food around.
Shedding The Fat with Whey Protein Supplements
As astonishing as it is, it’s not a magic drug. In order to really lose weight with protein supplements, you need to compound supplementation with a consistent workout routine. If you combine the benefits of the low-fat percentage of Whey with its hunger reducing, fat burning properties, you get a supplement that’s 100% percent ideal for burning fat. Just make sure the rest of your diet doesn’t add too much fat to your body while crafting a workout plan to consistently sculpt your body to the body you truly desire.
A weight loss skin patch works by making use of a transdermal delivery system to introduce various chemicals that can address functions such as suppressing appetite, increasing metabolism, or preventing the body from absorbing oils and fats from food directly into the bloodstream. The transdermal delivery system used is safe and works based on the idea that some molecules can so small that it is possible for them to be easily absorbed through the skin and then directly into the bloodstream for the body to use. With this kind of delivery system, as much as 95% of any medication can reach the cells of the body through this manner as compared to the amount absorbed by the cells if the medication was taken orally. To ensure that the weight loss skin patch would work, the molecules present in any medication to be used must of a size small enough to be absorbed through the skin. Depending on the purpose, a weight loss skin patch can contain chromium, hydroxycitric acid, and caffeine – the same ingredients found in any weight loss supplement regardless of delivery system used.
Effectiveness
Many brands tend to brag about how effective their weight loss skin patch is. This isn’t to say that they aren’t but consumers should be wary that it’s not just because they are using a patch that makes it effective. A weight loss skin patch can function in a number of ways. Apart from administering needed amounts of a particular weight loss supplement (since they do contain the same ingredients as oral weight loss supplements do), a weight loss skin patch makes it easier for anyone who wears it to stick by whatever weight loss method they are using, much like how a post-it would remind you of errands that you have to run. As with any weight loss supplement, weight loss skin patches are most effective when used in conjunction with a healthy eating plan and regular exercise, and shouldn’t be relied on as a sole means of losing weight.
Where to put it
While you can put it anywhere on your body, a weight loss skin patch is recommended to be placed on the back or the shoulders. Before applying weight loss skin patches, always clean the area in order to remove any dirt, and then afterwards make sure to completely dry it. Wherever there is excess hair, you may want to remove excess hair first on a particular area before putting on the weight loss patch or to choose another area where there is less hair growth. This will make sure that the weight loss patch will not only stick better (ensuring optimum absorption) but removal will also be relatively easy and pain-free. In case that weight loss patches get removed or wet, they can still be used although they are not guaranteed to work at the same rate as a newly-put weight loss patch would.

It is very important when buying supplements over the Internet, that you make sure they are Ephedra free.

Using natural herbal supplements should only be one part of your weight loss program. Exercise should also be a big part of any weight loss program. Exercise first, and then use weight loss supplements to help lose weight.
Caralluma Fimbriata
A newcomer to the weight loss arena, Caralluma Fimbriata is being touted as the next big thing in weight loss products.Caralluma is a succulent cactus found in India and has apparently been used for many years as an appetite suppressant by the Indian people.
It is known as a famine food due to its ability to suppress appetite when food supplie are limited. Caralluma fimbriata grows in the wild in various areas of India and is believed to stop the formation of fat which in turn makes the body burn fat reserves for energy. The end result being weight loss and reduced craving for food.
The diet and weight loss supplement business is all about one thing – the almighty dollar. We’re constantly showered by TV commercials and ads that make us believe that all they want to do is help us lose weight. Guess again – they’re only in it for one thing: to make money on us.
Using spokespersons who no doubt have been helped by their professional staff and trainers, they give you the impression that your life will change if you use their brand of weight loss supplements. In reality, you might shed a few pounds using their supplements, but within a short amount of time (weeks, sometimes months), you’re back to where you started before the diet.
Think about it – have you ever seen a weight loss supplement company showcase a “success story” 3, 4, 5, or 10 years after? Nope, because by that time, that spokesperson is on their own, and their weight is back up again. Read the fine print on the bottom: “Results are not typical”.
You see, there is a secret the weight loss supplement industry is keeping from you. A secret, which would significantly reduce their earnings if it were to come out.
Please pay attention to what I’m about to tell you, because it will change the way you think about dieting forever:
Going on low calorie diets is completely pointless. You read correctly. When you drop your daily intake of calories, your metabolism will readjust itself to burn less calories. The same thing goes for weight loss supplements – your body readjusts to burn less calories. Are you seeing why the diet supplements industry wouldn’t want you to know about this? It would wipe them out.
Let me give you an example of how this works: Say you cut your daily caloric intake from 3000 to 1000 calories a day. Your body will now adjust itself so that you are burning only 1000 calories a day. This is why it’s so hard to lose weight and keep it off.
Again, your metabolism’s response to a drop in calories is to readjust itself to burn fewer calories each day. It’s why all diets, and diet supplement diets fail in the long run.
But it does not have to be this way. Not anymore. Because now there is a complete system/method behind this knowledge. It has been nick-named “Fat loss for idiots” because this ten-step method is so surprisingly simple and easy to do that you’d literally have to be a fool not to be able to follow it.
Weight Loss ? How Do I Achieve it ?
Weight loss is a critical issue in today’s society with obesity on the rise and people finally realizing what being overweight is doing to their bodies, their health and eventually their lifestyles.
Weight loss is good for many conditions. It is of real benefit in diabetes, high blood pressure, shortness of breath, joint problems and raised cholesterol.
Weight loss is and will always remain a major problem for individuals, especially women.
Weight loss will happen when you shift your diet towards the wholesome and maintain an active lifestyle. Weight loss is possible with exercise and healthy meals alone, but including good-quality protein and building lean muscle mass will help you lose more quickly, helping you to keep the weight off and stay healthy. It is hard, there’s no doubt about it, but that’s because you have to put the time and effort into it.
Weight loss is considered the cornerstone of treatment in people with Type II diabetes because it allows the body to better use insulin and thus lowers blood sugar. It is a struggle for most, but achievable by all. Weight loss is virtually guaranteed if one sticks to the regulations of the diet.
Weight Loss basics: eat more calories than you use & you’ll put on weight; use more than you eat and you’ll lose it. Weight Loss is now a goal which can be reached really easily if we stick to a training regime, diet plan. But for some, surgery may be the only hope. Surgical techniques have evolved over the past few decades, and most are effective, in the sense that they do typically lead to substantial weight loss.
Slow rate of weight loss means you are making changes in the body that are going to last. Cutting calories is the path to weight loss that many people choose. That is right, spinach, dark lettuces and broccoli are great for weight loss. Long term weight loss means living a new life, but that does not mean the life has to be one you are not comfortable living.
In the case of women who are overweight, the gain in muscle mass boosts their metabolism so that combined with aerobic exercise and a reduced calorie diet, weight loss is made easier and they look more fit and toned as they lose weight (and body fat). However, all experts do agree that the best way to maintain weight loss is to follow a healthy lifestyle. Which ever approach you prefer, the key to long-term success is a slow steady weight loss. It is proven that it is important to prepare yourself mentally for your weight loss journey and the lifestyle changes you are about to undergo.
Let’s face it, we all know that to achieve a healthy weight loss we need to burn more calories than what we take in. A healthy breakfast is one of the key elements of a healthy diet and consequential weight loss. Much of the early weight loss on a very low calorie diet represents loss of muscle tissue rather than loss of fat. The strategy for weight loss in obese patients is first to change behavior; then, it is to decrease the expectation of rapid change.
For individuals who are morbidly obese, surgery to bypass portions of the stomach and small intestine may at times be the only effective means of producing sustained and significant weight loss. These medications would be specifically tailored to interfere with the energy cycles to facilitate weight loss. The primary factor in achieving and maintaining weight loss is a lifelong commitment to regular exercise and sensible eating habits. You will find that all levels of your life are improved with weight loss which brings you so much personal satisfaction.
If eating habits are not completely and permanently changed, the weight loss provided by a diet is not going to last long. If you suffer from, or think you may suffer from, a medical condition you should consult your doctor before starting a weight loss and/or exercise regime.
Drinking water is one of the most rapid weight loss tips that dieticians suggest to people and leads to 100+ calories extra burned a day. Every twenty soft drinks you skip from your normal intake equates to about one pound of weight loss. Fasting: While fasting plays a major part in some diets, it is generally not recommended for safe weight loss.
Diet
Dietitians are nutritionists who work directly with clients or patients regarding their nutritional needs. Dieting reduces your caloric intake but exercising helps you burn more calories. DIET Weight loss is vital if obesity is present. Dieting is easier than you ever imagined. On a vegetarian diet, weight loss is not supposed to be a problem. A well balanced reduced calorie diet containing moderate fat is recommended. The inclusion of different kinds of fruits into weight-loss diets is a healthy way of dealing with starvation, as well as providing the body those nutrients and vitamins it needs to function properly.
Exercise While You Diet: Weight loss is all about reducing your caloric intake while you increase the calories you burn. First of all decide how much weight you want to lose, and set yourself a realistic target, ideally with the help of your dietitian or doctor. A diet that works for some people does not work for others. A healthy breakfast is one of the key elements of a healthy diet and consequential weight loss. Most fad diets, if followed closely, will result in weight loss—as a result of caloric restriction.
Moreover, dieters who fail to adopt better exercise and eating habits will regain the lost weight—and possibly more. As it begins, large amounts of water will be shed, leading the dieter to think that significant weight reduction is taking place. Consult your doctor, for any health problem and before using any supplements, making dietary changes, or before making any changes in prescribed medications.
One of my main beefs with most diets is that the focus is on outward appearance and numbers (on a scale and calorie counting) instead of total well-being. While doctors put most moderately obese patients on balanced, low-calorie diets(1,200–1,500 calories a day), occasionally they recommend a very low calorie liquid protein diet (400–700 calories), with supplementation of vitamins and minerals, for as long as three months. Much of the early weight loss on a very low calorie diet represents loss of muscle tissue rather than loss of fat.
As many as 85% of dieters who do not exercise on a regular basis regain their lost weight within two years. Repeatedly losing and regaining weight (yo-yo dieting) encourages the body to store fat and may increase a patient’s risk of developing heart disease. Eating three balanced, moderate-portion meals a day—with the main meal at mid-day—is a more effective way to prevent obesity than fasting or crash diets, which convince the body that there is an ongoing famine. Modern medicine has found ways to extend our lifespan through dietary restriction.
For the sake of your health, always consult your doctor before making any significant dietary, nutritional or lifestyle changes. The American Heart Association (AHA) generally recommends a diet with less than 30% fat. However, the 2000 AHA Dietary Guidelines also state that there may be some benefits for patients who are insulin resistant to follow a diet that reduces saturated fat while increasing the intake of unsaturated fat rather than carbohydrates, as long as an ideal body weight is attained and maintained. Again, education is needed to improve the nutritional content of the diet.
The patient’s lifestyle, food preferences, preparation abilities, snack habits, cravings, etc, should all be considered when developing a dietary plan. It is important that the nutrition counselor tailor the diet to the individual as opposed to adopting a “one-size-fits-all” approach. After weight loss, lower-fat diets may be best. For most people, being overweight is a result of an insufficient amount of exercise, an inadequate lifestyle regime and a poorly balanced diet.
Weight loss is virtually guaranteed if one sticks to the regulations of the diet. If you suffer or think you may suffer from any medical condition you should consult your doctor before starting any exercise or diet regime. Most high-fiber foods are also high in water and low in calories, making them must-have diet foods. Soluble fiber can help to lower cholesterol; insoluble contains indigestible fibers that add bulk to our diets.
Some experts believe dieters have better control if they eat several mini-meals throughout the day. Exercise and a balanced diet are the key factors in fat loss and weight reduction. Drinking water is one of the most rapid weight loss tips that dieticians suggest to people and leads to 100+ calories extra burned a day. The ultimate tip to eventual success: regular exercise and a balanced diet. Add one cheat day to your diet to rid yourself of cravings.
Eat a healthy diet filled with lots of vegetables, fruits, and whole grain products. Fasting: While fasting plays a major part in some diets, it is generally not recommended for safe weight loss.
Surgery
But for many in this situation, weight loss surgery is the only hope. One of the earliest forms was gastric bypass surgery. There are many forms of surgery these days and all have pros and cons. There are still substantial risks, however, as with any major surgery. For those who believe surgery is the best option, consulting with an experienced
Weight loss
For those of you interested in weight loss, exercising, dieting, and training, even sleep and stress patterns must all be taken into account. As far as exercise goes, muscle building is far more effective, in terms of weight loss than cardiovascular exercise. Exercise is an integral part of the process of weight loss, and weightlifting exercises are better than cardiovascular exercise in terms of weight loss because in weightlifting, fat is translated to muscle, where as in cardiovascular exercise, fat is melted away, so to speak! So, as regards weight loss, plan on squats, push-ups, sit-ups, and strengthening exercises.
For weight loss, as far as dieting goes, I have found the South Beach Diet to be quite effective for me. Weight loss requires mostly a “low carb” diet, where your focus is to eat certain kinds of “carbs” conducive to weight loss, versus others. It is also a very healthy way of eating that promotes weight loss, and as you can pretty much eat as much as you want, anytime, it is not a difficult weight loss diet to maintain in the long run. I do not actually cook any or all of the recipes listed in the book called “The South Beach Diet”, but I do eat the main ingredients of that diet regularly, for weight loss, and I stay away from potatoes, breads, and pastas. For weight loss, I use only low fat butters, sauces, etc. I have succeeded in weight loss in a very short amount of time, and I now maintain a regular, healthy, low fat diet. I also exercise minimally, and I will probably never be faced with having to go on a weight loss diet again. If so, I know how to lose weight very quickly!
In the practice of martial arts, and integral to weight loss, cardiovascular exercise, weight training, and even stretching are all integral parts of training. Aside from weight loss, I studied and practiced the martial arts when I was very young, and I was heavily influenced by Bruce Lee’s works. Later, I competed in Tae Kwon Do, and weight loss was an integral part of competition fighting. My weight loss plan and fitness training was then based a lot on the same ideas that Bruce Lee had. I will now outline a simple and yet effective weight loss and exercise plan.
For weight loss, start with a “low-carb” diet, eating boneless/skinless chicken breasts, London broil, fish and shellfish, and very lean hamburger, for meats. Also for weight loss, for vegetables, only eat green and white vegetables…broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus, green beans, and brussel sprouts are good choices for weight loss. Also for weight loss, do not eat fruits or desserts, etc…use only low fat butter or butter substitutes, egg substitutes, fat free cheeses and salad dressings, and next to no salt and pepper…for weight loss, if you are creative, you can make excellent dishes all the time, and eat as much as you want, whenever you want, and maintain your weight loss plan. Make sure to also stay away from breads and pastas, and sweets period…at least for a time. For weight loss, you can gradually implement fruits, pastas, breads, and other things back into your diet after you have reached your target weight. Again, for weight loss, moderation with these things is the key! Oh…no beer! For weight loss, best to enjoy “low-cal” alcoholic beverages in moderation. Red wine is the least fattening!
To drink otherwise? Lots of water is best!

Regarding weight loss, for an exercise program, plan to spend no more than thirty minutes once every several days. For weight loss, your muscles need time to heal, and to build muscle (thereby translating fat into muscle), and you will not experience soreness. For weight loss, exercising for short periods of time every several days, even in front of the television, is an easy enough program to maintain. For weight loss, and to tone or build muscle, exercise should be both fat burning and muscle building at the same time. Do many repetitions of each exercise, and as many sets as you can…for weight loss, you want to work your muscles and develop a “sweat”. Do your repetitions as close together as possible…work SLOWLY towards your weight loss goal! Weight loss, true fitness, and mastery in the martial arts requires long term and repetitive workouts.
Weight loss with a diet as suggested above, and a thirty minute exercise routine two to three times a week; a weight loss workout including squats, push-ups, and crunches, and/or any number of replacement exercises and routines will produce weight loss in anywhere from two weeks to thirty days – anywhere from seven to fifteen pounds of weight loss, honestly!
My own personal regimen for weight loss and exercise, unless I am practicing the martial arts, is simply several sets of leg squats, several sets of push-ups, and several sets of some stomach exercises such as sit-ups, or tummy crunchers…for weight loss, the list of available exercises for martial arts training, even Bruce Lee’s own collection of exercises, is exhaustive! For weight loss, I do this thirty minute workout in front of the television every seventy-two hours or so…plenty, as I am no longer trying to execute an axe kick, and I am happy with my own weight loss!
A Bruce Lee workout often includes weight loss…a Bruce Lee workout includes stretching, bending, running, dipping, kicking, jumping, traditional muscle building exercises, weight lifting, rope skipping, medicine ball handling, etc. Even for weight loss, you would do well to read “Tao of Jeet Kune Do”, by Bruce Lee, as Bruce Lee studied almost all arts of combat, their weight loss programs, and their exercise programs, and included his suggestions in the above mentioned masterpiece.
What about weight loss and diet pills? It is really just speed, or caffeine, and suppresses the appetite. So, just do some cocaine, and you will experience considerable weight loss! (Pun intended!) For weight loss, diet pills, and especially cocaine, are not healthy for you, and they interfere with your sleep patterns. Besides weight loss, cocaine use has even more drastic side effects! Also, once the pill or drug is abstained from, the weight usually returns as the appetite is no longer suppressed.
In closing, if you want to succeed in weight loss, feel good, look tone or even muscular, adopt my version of the South Beach Diet, as a regular way of eating. For weight loss, begin with an exercise routine such as mine, and perhaps increase the length and severity of your workouts over time. Get plenty of sleep, vitamins and aspirin are helpful, and set about to work with your weight loss plan, chiseling the body you have always wanted for yourself…maybe we will see you in an upcoming Jackie Chan movie!

Five Simple Steps Toward Creating The Perfect Weight Loss Plans
There are many different weight loss plans that can be used for losing unwanted body weight. But in this article you will discover how instead of using an “in-effective” weight loss approach like a low calorie diet or a fad diet, you can design your own personal weight loss program that can help you to create permanent fat loss!
By the way, permanent fat loss is when you reach your ideal body weight and then maintain it for life! I also like to call it “irreversible, long-term weight loss success” because once you reach your main target weight — you never re-gain the unwanted body fat that you worked so hard to lose! Isn’t this what you truly want to achieve when you decide to start a weight loss program?
Diets, diet pills, appetite suppressants and other “flawed” weight loss strategies and products are simply a waste of your precious time and hard-earned money! To create a lean, healthy body in the long term, a completely different approach has to be used, and it should include only proper nutrition and exercise.
There are a few serious problems with using someone else’s weight loss plan for creating permanent fat loss. The first, and most obvious, is that it wasn’t custom tailored to your wants and needs. Second, it doesn’t take into account your physiological characteristics. The person that designed it didn’t know if you have an endomorph, ectomorph or a mesomorph dominant body type.
Without taking into account your own personal wants, needs and your body type it is impossible to design an effective nutrition and exercise program that will help you to “effectively” lose unwanted body fat and eventually create permanent fat loss.
Conventional diets, fad diets, diet pills, appetite suppressants that promise quick weight loss in reality lead to muscle loss, water loss, and slow down your metabolism. When this happens your body can’t burn calories efficiently and eventually you always hit a weight loss plateau.
In addition to this — your organism will continue to increase your appetite because it is not getting what it needs to function properly on a daily basis — and eventually “massive hunger” will force you to start consuming more food than your body can realistically burn during the day!
Obviously, when this happens, the little weight that you lost using in-effective weight loss approaches and products will be all gained back!
Considering that conventional diets, fad diets, diet pills, appetite suppressants have an almost 100% failure rate — I would recommend that you avoid using them — if you want to reach your ideal weight and then maintain it for life.
Your first step toward designing your own weight loss plans is to always start at the end!
What result do you want to create when you arrive at the end of your weight loss journey? Answering this question should be the first step that you take when you start to design your own personal weight loss plans that will help you to create permanent fat loss.
The process that you will use to create the body of your dreams should be designed taking into account the end result that you want to bring into reality. The reason for this is simple: Before you start taking your first steps you must know exactly in what direction you are heading!
If you want to go from where you are right now to reaching your ideal body weight and bringing into reality the body of your dreams I would strongly recommend that you spend some time on creating a goal chart with all the steps that you will take in your weight loss journey!
This brings us to the second part of the first step, which is to objectively observe your current circumstances. Current reality is the only place where you can begin to create the body of your dreams. So before you actually start to use proper nutrition and exercise in order to create a lean, healthy body, decide exactly where you are going and simultaneously observe where you are right now.
This means you have to honestly write down your currently total body weight, your current body fat percentage, your current nutrition strategy, and your current exercise strategy. If you don’t have nutrition and exercise strategies — simply write down what you eat on a daily basis and the exercises that you do.
When you take these two first steps, only then you are ready to start working on the process that will help you to get from where you are right now to where you want to be in the future when you create a lean, attractive body that is filled with health and vitality!
The major reason why most people can’t bring into reality the body of their dreams is because they do not know how to create the drive and the non-stop motivation to keep moving toward their major health goals through the toughest parts of their weight loss program without quitting, giving up and throwing in the white towel!
Before we continue, I want to mention that the process for losing unwanted body fat is very simple to describe, but it is not that easy to implement for most people. And if you were born with an endomorph dominant body type, and have a slow metabolism — it can be very hard!
Knowing this can help you to accept this part of reality — and can help you to keep moving toward your major health goal — even if you fall off the wagon a few times during your weight loss journey!
Your second step toward designing your own weight loss plans is to create your own weight loss chart!
The second step that you should take toward reaching your ideal weight is to create your own weekly weight loss chart. This is actually part of tracking current reality and helps you to track your weight loss results on a weekly basis.
By simultaneously focusing on what you desire and where you are in the present moment you will create the energy that can help you to keep moving and moving toward reaching your ideal body weight!
The weekly weight loss chart is what will keep you on track, and at the same time it will help to fuel your movement toward your major goal. This is the approach that I used to lose over 110 pounds of unwanted body fat in 12 months. By focusing on my current reality on a daily basis I was able to adjust my weight loss approach until I found the nutrition and exercise strategies that worked especially well for me.
If you want to produce similar results in your weight loss program, I recommend that you design your own weight loss plans using the strategies in this article — and start moving toward creating irreversible, long-term weight loss success today!
Your third step toward designing your own weight loss plans is to create a nutrition approach that works especially well for you!
Once you have designed your own goal setting chart and created your own weekly weight loss chart, your next step in the design of your weight loss plan should be to custom tailor your own nutrition unique approach that you will use to reach your ideal body weight.
To create irreversible, long-term weight loss success — the food that you consume on a daily basis should be used mostly to maintain your current weight. You can create a small calorie deficit by using the thermic effect of food sources like lean protein and natural complex carbohydrates.
One of the biggest mistakes made by the majority of dieters is that they attempt to “diet off” their fat instead of burning it off directly using an effective exercise strategy. Trying to lose body fat using conventional diets, fad diets, diet pills, and/or appetite suppressants will always backfire, because your body requires an optimum amount of food on a daily basis to function properly.
When you do not provide your organism with what it requires on a daily basis, it will force you to consume more food through different mechanisms that produce “massive hunger.” When this happens you will give up your weight loss approach and start to overeat on a daily basis. When this happens — all the weight that you lost using these “flawed” approaches and products — will simply be re-gained!
It is very important that your custom tailored weight loss plan includes the basics and fundamentals of proper nutrition. And one of the most important elements of proper nutrition is to consume natural, unprocessed and unrefined food sources as much as possible.
When designing your own weight loss plan there are some other very important things that you must take into account. When it comes to creating permanent fat loss your daily calorie intake plays a large role in helping you to create this result. Make sure that you calculate your optimum daily calorie intake for yourself — taking into account your current lean body mass. This is the most effective way to get this number right.
Choosing the right nutrient ratios is also a part of a healthy diet plan that will help your body to efficiently burn off the calories that are consumed by you on a daily basis. Nutrient ratios are simply the percentage of the calories that come from the carbohydrates, protein, and dietary fat that you consume on a daily basis.
Last but not least, an effective weight loss plan must also include the proper meal frequency and meal timming approach. Eating four average size meals, every four hours of the day, is the best way to help your body to completely burn off the calories in these meals.
Your fourth step toward designing your own weight loss plans is to create an exercise approach that works especially well for you!
The next step after designing your own nutrition strategy, should be to design your own exercise approach. This step will help you to burn off the unwanted body fat that you currently have stored
The Big Picture of Weight Loss
For most people reading this article, finding an effective diet that works most of the time must seem as complicated as quantum physics. It’s not, but there are a bewildering number of choices for diets out there. High fat or no fat? High carbohydrate or no carbohydrate? Low protein or high protein? To make matters worse, there are a million variations and combinations to the above diet scenarios to add to the confusion. It seems endless and causes many people to throw up their hands in frustration and give up. In this article I will attempt to change all that.
There are some general guidelines, rules of thumb, and ways of viewing a diet program that will allow you to decide, once and for all, if it’s the right diet for you. You may not always like what I have to say, and you should be under no illusions that this is another quick fix, “lose 100 lbs. in 20 days,” guide of some sort.
However, if you are sick and tired of being confused, tired of taking the weight off only to put it back on, and tired of wondering how to take the first steps to deciding the right diet for you that will result in permanent weight loss, then this is the article that could change your life…
Do you need to be a scientist to apply what you will learn here? No. A mind reader or clairvoyant? No. A nutritionist or medical doctor? Not at all. What you need to be is open-minded and willing to learn a few key concepts that will allow you to sort through the confusion.
You will be able to apply what you have learnt here to any diet you are considering and decide if it makes sense, once and for all!
The process, however, is neither easy nor quick, but I never promised you either of those things… This article does not look at specific diets but will teach you to take a logical approach and apply some common sense to choosing a nutritional plan for life long weight loss. If you are willing and able to make a paradigm shift, then let’s proceed.
Does your diet pass “The Test”?
What is the number one reason diets fail long term; above all else? The number one reason is a lack of long term compliance. The numbers don’t lie; the vast majority of people who lose weight will regain it – and often exceed what they lost. You knew that already didn’t you?
Yet, what are you doing to avoid it? Here’s another reality check: virtually any diet you pick which follows the basic concept of “burning” more calories then you consume – the well accepted “calories in calories out” mantra – will cause you to lose weight. To some degree, they all work: Atkins-style, no carb diets, low fat high carb diets, all manner of fad diets – it simply does not matter in the short term.
If your goal is to lose some weight quickly, then pick one and follow it. I guarantee you will lose some weight. Studies generally find any of the commercial weight loss diets will get approximately the same amount of weight off after 6 months to a year. For example, a recent study found the Atkins’ Diet, Slim-Fast plan, Weight Watchers Pure Points program, and Rosemary Conley’s Eat Yourself Slim diet, were all equally effective. (1)
Other studies comparing other popular diets have come to essentially the same conclusions. For example, a study that compared the Atkins diet, the Ornish diet, Weight Watchers, and The Zone Diet, found them to be essentially the same in their ability to take weight off after one year. (2)
Recall what I said about the number one reason diets fail, which is a lack of compliance. The lead researcher of this recent study stated:
“Our trial found that adherence level rather than diet type was the primary predictor of weight loss”(3)
Translated, it’s not which diet they choose, but their ability to actually stick to a diet that predicted their weight loss success. I can just see the hands going up now, “but Will, some diets must be better than others, right?” Are some diets better then others?
Absolutely. Some diets are healthier then others, some diets are better at preserving lean body mass, some diets are better at suppressing appetite – there are many differences between diets. However, while most of the popular diets will work for taking weight off, what is abundantly clear is that adhering to the diet is the most important aspect for keeping the weight off long term.
What is a diet?
A diet is a short term strategy to lose weight. Long term weight loss is the result of an alteration in lifestyle. We are concerned with life long weight management, not quick fix weight loss. I don’t like the term diet, as it represents a short term attempt to lose weight vs. a change in lifestyle. Want to lose a bunch of weight quickly? Heck, I will give you the information on how to do that here and now for no charge.
For the next 90 to 120 days eat 12 scrambled egg whites, one whole grapefruit, and a gallon of water twice a a day. You will lose plenty of weight. Will it be healthy? Nope. Will the weight stay off once you are done with this diet and are then forced to go back to your “normal” way of eating? Not a chance. Will the weight you lose come from fat or will it be muscle, water, bone, and (hopefully!) some fat? The point being, there are many diets out there that are perfectly capable of getting weight off you, but when considering any eating plan designed to lose weight, you must ask yourself:
“Is this a way of eating I can follow long term?”
Which brings me to my test: I call it the “Can I eat that way for the rest of my life?” Test. I know, it does not exactly roll off your tongue, but it gets the point across.
The lesson here is: any nutritional plan you pick to lose weight must be part of a lifestyle change you will be able to follow – in one form or another – forever. That is, if it’s not a way of eating you can comply with indefinitely, even after you get to your target weight, then it’s worthless.
Thus, many fad diets you see out there are immediately eliminated, and you don’t have to worry about them. The question is not whether the diet is effective in the short term, but if the diet can be followed indefinitely as a lifelong way of eating. Going from “their” way of eating back to “your” way of eating after you reach your target weight is a recipe for disaster and the cause of the well established yo-yo dieting syndrome.
Bottom line: there are no short cuts, there is no free lunch, and only a commitment to a lifestyle change is going to keep the fat off long term. I realize that’s not what most people want to hear, but it’s the truth, like it or not.
The statistics don’t lie: getting the weight off is not the hardest part, keeping the weight off is! If you take a close look at the many well known fad / commercial diets out there, and you are honest with yourself, and apply my test above, you will find most of them no longer appeal to you as they once did. It also brings me to an example that adds additional clarity: If you have diet A that will cause the most weight loss in the shortest amount of time but is unbalanced and essentially impossible to follow long term vs. diet B, which will take the weight off at a slower pace, but is easier to follow, balanced, healthy, and something you can comply with year after year, which is superior? If diet A gets 30 lbs off you in 30 days, but by next year you have gained back all 30 lbs, but diet B gets 20 lbs off you in the next 3 months with another 20 lbs 3 months after that and the weight stays off by the end of that year, which is the better diet?
If you don’t know the answer to those questions, you have totally missed the point of this article and the lesson it’s trying to teach you, and are set up for failure. Go back and read this section again…By default, diet B is superior.
Teach a man to Fish…
A well known Chinese Proverb is;
Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.
This expression fits perfectly with the next essential step in how to decide what eating plan you should follow to lose weight permanently. Will the diet plan you are considering teach you how to eat long term, or does it spoon-feed you information? Will the diet rely on special bars, shakes, supplements or pre-made foods they supply?
Let’s do another diet A vs. diet B comparison. Diet A is going to supply you with their foods, as well as their special drink or bars to eat, and tell you exactly when to eat them. You will lose – say – 30 lbs in two months. Diet B is going to attempt to help you learn which foods you should eat, how many calories you need to eat, why you need to eat them, and generally attempt to help teach you how to eat as part of a total lifestyle change that will allow you to make informed decisions about your nutrition. Diet B causes a slow steady weight loss of 8 -10 lbs per month for the next 6 months and the weight stays off because you now know how to eat properly.
Recall the Chinese proverb. Both diets will assist you to lose weight. Only one diet, however, will teach you how to be self-reliant after your experience is over. Diet A is easier, to be sure, and causes faster weight loss than diet B, and diet B takes longer and requires some thinking and learning on your part. However, when diet A is over, you are right back where you started and have been given no skills to fish. Diet companies don’t make their profits by teaching you to fish, they make their money by handing you a fish so you must rely on them indefinitely or come back to them after you gain all the weight back.
Thus, diet B is superior for allowing you to succeed where other diets failed, with knowledge gained that you can apply long term.
A challenge plays!
A challenge plays!
Each day we all face the possibilities of getting some type of illnesses. Each day we live, we face common colds, allergies, flu, pneumonia, joint injuries and so on. Each day we live, we face the chances of reducing our life expectancy because at any moment someone could die from an accident or violence. Violence takes place in all our communities, which each day we all face the risk of becoming the next victim. Sure, you can spend your life in blindness believing that it can’t happen to you, but what happens on the day it does happen to you or someone you love. Are you ready to face the reality then? If you built your strengths, you would prepare for the unknown or inevitable because the fact is it can happen to you.
Facing reality head-on is something many people dread. The fact is when you face reality head-on you are preparing to take action when the day arrives. For instance, if you prepare to prevent hurricanes or tornadoes from destroying your home, you are taking steps to live healthier and happier, since you will be prepared if that day arrives. Likewise, when you consider healthy aging, if you take steps now you will be prepared to endure whatever doors open in your future, including disease, wrinkles, and so on.
On this note we are going to discuss a few ailments or conditions that all people may face as they begin to age.
Your brain:
Your brain is a natural gift that holds dendrites, blood cells, tissues, cells, etc, and all these elements channel down to your central nervous system. (CNS) As you start to age, your brain will decrease its flow of blood and your many levels of chemicals in the brain and body will decline as they go through the senescence of change. This means that your CNS will also decline its functions.
Moreover, when you begin aging you eyes are affected as well. As you grow older, the lens will stiffen. Your retina may feel less responsive to daylight or artificial light. In addition, your pupils may start to react slower.
How the ears, mouth and smell are affected:
As you begin to age your may find that your high-pitch hearing frequencies are less responsive. Your nose may not have the ability to identify scents or odors. In addition, you may not like the foods you once enjoyed since your tastes will change as well.
How aging affects the heart:
Aging affects the heart. Aging causes the pulse acceleration to lower. Your blood and heart muscles will stiffen and decrease production. In addition, your heart may not respond to natural things it once responded to at one time.
Your lungs will lose its ability to obtain air, moving it freely as it once did. Each breath you take will not carry the oxygen it once did to your blood. Aging will also change your liver. Your liver may reduce in size. Your liver may also decrease its blood flow.
As you grow older and these elements of your makeup change, it will affect your kidneys, bladder, colon, or large intestines, skin, immune system, metabolism, and your reproductive organs. A male will lose his reproductive organs ability to function proper, since the prostate glands will enlarge. The male will also lose reproduction of testosterone echelons. In addition, the blood will cease its flow to the male organs, such as the penis.
As you grow older you will experience many changes, which is why it is time to say now, it can happen to me and do something about it.
